Ballet is the foundation for all dance training and we are focused on helping students develop solid ballet technique. There is an emphasis on learning proper use of turn out, use of arms (port de bras), and understanding correct body placement. Classes begin with a warm-up at the barre, followed by center floor exercises. Students in this class will also learn choreography in line with classical ballet pieces.
Tap Dance is the timeless art that combines dance with percussion. Our tap classes explore traditional Broadway tap rhythms, as well as a more modern style that combines elements of rhythm tap, also known as hoofing. Our classes begin with a warm-up exercise and across the floor to build technique and coordination, and the second half of the class is choreography where dancers practice different rhythmic combinations.
Jazz is a dance form that is known for its energy, variety, and overall upbeat nature. Our jazz classes explore both the contemporary and classic jazz style. Students in this class will begin with a warm-up to develop flexibility, strength, core, and coordination, followed by across the floor exercises. The second half of the class will be choreography, focusing on different combinations allowing students to enjoy the expressive and dynamic nature of jazz.
Hip-Hop is an upbeat class that combines basic hip-hop and jazz movemments to create funky combinations. Students will have fun in this face-paced class while developing their coordination, rhythm, and self-expression. This is also a great opportunity to build stamina and get a great cardio workout in this high energy class.
This class does not require any previous tumbling experience. As the dance industry evolves, tumbling and acro are now also incorporated into dance choreography. This class will introduce basic-intermediate acro/tumbling for dancers. During each class, dancers will learn a variation of stretches to strengthen their body and improve flexibility. They will also learn a variety of tricks across the floor and for center floor.
Lyrical and contemporary dance forms are a fusion of both ballet and jazz styles. This class blends the controlled movement of ballet with the dynamics of jazz and modern to create expressive movements that tell a story. Students will develop technique skills, as well as flexibility in this class. Each class will include a stretching warm-up and choreography.
